Water Filtration and Recycling for Screen Printers
Solids filtration in screen print operations is critical. Emulsion can coat drains the same way it coats screens, so reclaiming water needs effective solids capture before discharge or reuse.
CFS3 filtration
The CFS3 is an all stainless-steel filtration system used in screen print shops around the world. It filters wash water down to 20 microns nominal using two reusable stainless steel classifier screens and a disposable bag filter. It is a practical option for operations reclaiming up to about 10 screens per day.
CMAFU-2 automatic filtration
The CMAFU-2 solids filter is automatic and can handle wash water flows up to 8 GPM continuously, enough for two handheld pressure washers running at the same time. As the paper filter media plugs, it advances automatically. Spent paper drops into a container for simple disposal.
CMAFU-2 is the first filtration step for screen printers reclaiming more than 10 screens per day.
Polishing and recycling
Single and dual polishing filtration systems, including ACF3, SPL30, and DPL30, can prepare water for sewer discharge or recycling. The system can be configured for acceptable discharge or zero-discharge operation.
Treatment goals
- Reduce source chemicals used in reclaiming where possible.
- Remove solids from reclaiming water.
- Eliminate hydrocarbons.
- Use bioreactor treatment for hydrocarbons and organic contaminants when required.
